Sr C++ Software Developer - Government Legal Data Services (JVH-C++ 4)

The Role

Please note this is a full-time position in Manhattan. Strong C++ MULTITHREADING expertise under Unix/Linux platform is required.

The Government Legal Data Services team is looking for an experienced backend C++ developer to work on data acquisition, processing and web services infrastructure. This role entails the development of new code that facilitates transforming, integrating, and processing government data from various sources. You will work on core pieces of the product related to the acquisition and processing of various sources of government information from various domains (legislative, regulatory, financial, contracts, etc.) You will also work on developing core data processing and delivery infrastructure for the product.

Requirements

- Expert level software engineering experience in C++ (5+ yrs) on Unix/Linux platforms

- Experience with SOA and in particular developing and using Web Services (SOAP,HTTP, WSDL, XSD, REST)

- High level of expertise working with relational databases and SQL development, preferably with Oracle and/or MySQL

- Understanding of performance and optimization issues in large projects

- Data modeling and design experience

- Proficiency with Scripting languages

- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

- A proven ability to learn and adapt to new, complex development environments

- Superb analytical skills, self directed, excellent communication skills with engineers and non-engineers, strong team ethic, and pays close attention to details

Experience and familiarity with following technologies is a big plus:

- Experience with C# and .Net framework

- XML, XSLT

- Experience with search technologies (e.g. SOLR)

- Knowledge of OLAP technologies

- Familiarity with Web Technologies

- Ruby and Ruby on Rails
