Client Onboarding IT Business Analyst

Department Overview
Within the Client Onboarding Program, this person will be part of a BA team, that has dual reporting lines (to both IT Workstream Lead and Relationship Managers.
Main Function
The company has launched a strategic initiative to review and re-engineer its client onboarding processes. The onboarding processes drive the introduction of new revenue to the firm. The scope of the process begins with the front office identifying new business opportunities and also includes the supporting infrastructures (Compliance, Credit Risk, Legal and Operations) processing of this new client request. In its current state, the process is de-centralized, inefficient and not optimized from an efficiency, cost and client experience perspective.
The objectives of the program are to:
1. Faster onboarding and setup turnarounds without compromising on risk or regulatory requirements
2. Reduced client onboarding administration - processing and operational costs
3. Increased visibility at every stage of the process
4. Enhanced client experience and reduced client touch points
The scope of the project includes:
1. Re-designing firm-wide business processes that support client onboarding
2. Re-defining the organizational structures supporting client onboarding and developing a new operating model
3. Implementing the required systems and tools to support the newly defined client onboarding operating model
An experienced IT Business Analyst (BA) is required to assist the work stream leads in business process and technical analysis and to help drive the effective implementation of the new Client Onboarding (COB) Program.
Main Duties
The role covers front-to-back analysis of the client onboarding business processes. The BA will lead both the business and data requirements gathering processes and help support the delivery of a strategic change program. This is a unique BA role which encompasses both the business and technology analysis that is needed to support the overall COB requirements delivery.
The role covers a broad range of business analysis activities including but not limited to:
- Performing a deep dive analysis of the COB processes, producing detailed workflow documentation and developing recommendations to support the future state solution
- Working with the business architect and work stream leads to map and develop the future state design of the client onboarding processes. This includes identifying the required future state business processes, organisational model and helping to define the technology approach
- Working with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the firm to collect and define business requirements for the various onboarding work streams and translating these into functional specifications; includes identification of key dependencies
- Assessing performance data, identifying current defects/ bottlenecks in the process and escalating the issues to senior stakeholders
- Challenging business areas on their assumptions and proposed approaches to execute requirements
- Reviewing business requirements documentation with management and facilitating the approval process
- Providing regular status updates to the work stream leads and program manager, discussing progress on deliverables, and actively managing/escalating risks, issues, and dependencies
- Working with other Business Analysts in the team to review and resolve cross-functional requirements
- Working with the vendor and other technology teams within the company to design the strategic technology solution for the COB Program. This includes producing/reviewing detailed business requirements, workflows, mockups and functional specifications
- Leading or supporting the technology testing efforts. This includes leading or assisting in the development of SIT Test Plan and Test Scripts - Supporting the business testing efforts. This includes providing knowledge support to UAT testers in the development of UAT Test Scripts, and the management of defects and change requests
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, with no less than 2 years experience in the Financial Services Sector
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in an investment bank
• Industry recognized certifications in project or change management (PRINCE II, Six Sigma, PMP, etc)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite Applications including MS-Visio and MS-Project
• Superior analytical skills to support detailed business and technical requirements documentations
• Proven track record in business process mapping and redesign, including data analysis and manipulation
• Strong analytical writing skills and the ability to translate data into a format that drives decision making
• Quick understanding of business issues and data challenges in complex business areas
• Ability to engage in multiple analyses simultaneously and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders; capable of developing effective relationships throughout various levels in the organization
• Experience in working with external vendors and technology teams, as well as the ability to understand and challenge technical solutions
• Experience in the full systems development lifecycle
• Experience in testing and managing quality control
• Knowledge of the Investment Banking Industry
• Understanding of best practices within the Financial Services Sector and business process analysis
• Experience in the client onboarding space
